Whilst we muster up the energy to take down the Christmas decorations and ease ourselves back into a normal work/life routine that doesn’t involve staying in our pyjamas all day and eating chocolates for breakfast, we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on what a year we’ve had here at Ann’s Designer Cakes.

IPL Fashion Show 

Something that we’re sure most cake designers thrive on is being challenged artistically. So when we were invited to sponsor the India Pakistan London Fashion Show in March this year, we took this opportunity to challenge ourselves as cake designers and decided to create an edible wedding dress that could actually be worn and modelled down the catwalk.

The construction of the dress took around two months to complete right up until the night of the show. The dress was made entirely out of edible rice paper which was sewn together and embellished with a pearlised spray and sparkles just before our model hit the catwalk.

We were absolutely blown away by the response to the dress on the night of the show and after several months of planning, designing and creating, we were so thrilled to see how well it was received by the spectators and the press at the show. Of course, we were immensely proud of this achievement here at Ann’s Designer Cakes to have been given the opportunity to showcase something so unique at such a prestigious event. We really hope to work with IPL Fashion again this year and we look forward to having the opportunity to challenge ourselves as an artisan cake company further.

Launching The Decadence Collection

We spend a considerable amount of time designing and perfecting our ranges of wedding cakes in a multitude of designs and styles to suit our client’s visions. The Decadence Collection is our lavish trend for opulent and indulgent wedding cakes that we proudly launched in Autumn last year.

This luxury collection of cakes complement the grand wedding style. Weddings set in ostentatious venues require a considerably sized wedding cake to compliment the setting and of course cater to the number of guests. We’ve been thrilled with the response and demand for this collection and we are looking forward to adding to this range in the New Year as the design aspect of these cakes are limitless.

Talking Trends on the Hitched Wedding Planning Platform

As long-standing exhibitors at The National Wedding Show, we were proud to be a part of this fantastic event twice last year. In the Autumn, as well as showcasing our new Decadence Collection of wedding cakes we also stepped out of our comfort zone and joined the Hitched.co.uk Wedding Planning Platform, where we presented our ‘Wedding Cake Trends for 2018’ to crowds attending the show.

Shortlist for the UK Wedding Awards 2018

Just as we were winding down for the Christmas break, we were thrilled to discover that we had been shortlisted for the ‘Best Wedding Cake Company’ award in the UK Wedding Awards 2018. It was a fantastic way to end what has been a busy and exciting year and can’t wait to see what the New Year hold for us.
