As soon as the Mother’s Day cards were off the shelves, they’ve been quickly replaced with fluffy chicks, bonnets and chocolate eggs, which can only mean one thing…that Easter is on its way!

Traditionally, Easter cakes are Simnel Cakes. A light fruit cake with two layers of almond or marzipan flavoured sponge. It is traditionally decorated with eleven marzipan balls to represent Jesus’ disciples, (minus Judas, the traitor) and fresh flowers, or more recently, sugar flowers.

Today the variations of cakes flavours are limitless and can all be adapted and decorated to create the perfect sweet treat to enjoy at Easter time. So with that in mind, we’ve put together a selection of delicious, alternative, Easter Cakes…

Date & Ginger Cake

Jam-packed with flavour and perhaps a lesser-known combination of ingredients, our Pear Cake with Chai is a deliciously warming cake that oozes a sense of homemade comforts.

Whisky & Pistachio

A contemporary and lighter twist on the traditional Simnel cake.  Spiked with whisky and topped with Pistachios to give a well rounded morish cake.

Apple & Cinnamon

Combining sour and spice and all things nice. Our Apple and Cinnamon cake oozes all the warmth to compliment a perfect Easter weekend at home with the family.

Pear & Caramel
