Here at Ann’s Designer Cakes, we are really proud of the relationships that we have built up with not only our clients but with the wedding and events venues that we’ve worked with over the years. Successful events don’t just happen, communication, organisation and an abundance of co-operation are needed to ensure that our client’s requirements are met to the highest standard. So it’s crucial that venues and suppliers work well together in order to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
We’ve been fortunate to work with some amazing venues and moving forward we would like to celebrate this more, starting with our most recent partnership with a fairly new venue to the wedding industry scene, Robert Denholm House. A venue steeped in history but hasn’t long opened its doors for celebrations and events it is quickly making a name for itself as extremely versatile and unique ‘blank canvas’ wedding venue. One that we can’t wait to start working with this year.
Robert Denholm House
Set within 25 acres of stunning countryside in Nutfield, Surrey, Robert Denholm House is a beautiful late-Victorian mansion building boasting a wealth of history and romantic charm. The venue boasts an exceptionally versatile bespoke service, giving clients an array of possibilities to make their dream wedding become a reality.
A Historic & Versatile Venue
We recently took along our latest collection of cakes to the venue, along with our photographer, Jane Alexander. We met with the lovely Events Manager, Charlotte Stannard who gave us more insight into this historic and versatile wedding venue.
Introduce us to Robert Denholm House for anyone who is new to the venue…
Robert Denholm House is the perfect exclusive use venue for all events including Civil, Cultural and Celebrant Ceremonies as well as Receptions. The house, complete with original period features is licensed for up to 112 guests for a Civil Ceremony and is suitable to accommodate approximately 200 guests for an informal dining reception.
We have the luxury of being able to facilitate any size and shape of the marquee to host celebrations for even the most extensive guest list as our grounds are licensed for up to 4,500 guests.
With car parking for up to 100 vehicles, a heli-pad, and plenty of space for horses, fireworks and other special features, there are endless opportunities to create your wow factor.
What’s been your most unusual or quirky wedding request?
Perhaps the most unusual request we have couples asking is if their pets are welcome- particularly their dogs. We are thrilled to promote that RDH is a dog-friendly venue!
Here at RDH we love “different” and we attract many couples seeking to celebrate their own way which is fantastic! We’ve not yet had any requests that we’ve had to deny. We are frequently told that we’re a “breath of fresh air” as we go the extra mile to make things happen.
What themes or style work best at your venue?
Robert Denholm House is truly a blank canvas.
The interior walls of the house are ivory and stone, you only need a splash of colour and few finishing touches as the building itself are beautiful. That said – you could also décor everything and completely transform the place.
Our front lawns are often used for large marquee events as we are licensed for up to 4,500 guests! Marquees aren’t cheap accessories, however, are the perfect opportunity to design your own venue. My personal favourites at the front are modern, funky and arty structures – not trying to blend in with the late-Victorian mansion, but everyone’s different & that’s the point!
The side lawns are suitable for smaller marquees, approx. 200 guests. Surrounded on three sides by trees, I adore the natural, vintage style wedding. Also popular for out-door Celebrant Ceremonies.
What would you say makes RDH unique as a wedding venue?
The venue and grounds are used differently to suit each Wedding and Event we hold.
We have a fantastic ethos and value kindness, honesty, flexibility.
We feel honoured to be chosen as a member of “team wedding”. I enjoy working with the couples throughout their planning journey as much or as little as they want – although I’ve seen a few Grooms nod off whilst the Bride is discussing “their” ideal wishes!!!
From letters of thanks we receive, I think our clients really appreciate a helping hand and a laugh along the way.
